I model Chicago "L" structure in HO.

I do not fasten my track to the structure nor do I fasten the structure to the table. This way, I can lift it off and work on it for maintenance, changes, troubleshooting, etc.

The tracks, however, are fastened together by removing every 6th tie and replacing with a continuous wood piece (same size as the tie) glued to each rail.

I use flextrack for straight only except as described next for the curves. Flextrack will not hold its shape on curves, therefore I use 15" radius segmental track for the inside track on curves tied to flex track on the outside. That way the segmental track holds the flex track to the proper curve shape.
